A unique instrument to match a joyful personality

In Tulghes, I had the great pleasure of meeting the wonderful traditional singer and composer Lacramioara Pop. She plays a very unique instrument called Doba and had many, many interesting stories and songs to share with us. Doba is an ancestral, accompanying instrument, which usually accompanied the violin or the whistle and, in the old days, the ensemble at the village dances.

Made of fir wood, doba is on the verge of extinction because there are no more craftsmen to carve it. Maybe I will have the chance and time to learn how to play it one day. In the video below I share a snippet of our conversation where once again I ask what is the meaning of life followed by a song.
